We, the people of Missouri, call on Eric Schmitt and Congress to swiftly investigate Elon Musk and DOGE:
Concerns About Elon Musk & DOGE’s Actions
- Treasury Department: DOGE was granted access to a system that disburses over $5 trillion annually, including Social Security, government paychecks, and contractor payments. Despite initial resistance from Treasury official David Lebryk, DOGE was given full access, raising concerns about fraud and illegal payments. Musk publicly accused Treasury officials of breaking the law by approving fraudulent payments.
- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS): DOGE attempted to gain access to critical technology systems at CMS, threatening the integrity of vital healthcare programs.
- USAID (United States Agency for International Development): DOGE's team gained access to classified information at USAID without proper security clearances. After security attempts to block the unauthorized access, DOGE moved to dismantle the agency by taking its website and X account offline, firing staff, and halting overseas operations. Musk claimed that the agency was "shut down" with Trump's approval.
- Social Security and Medicare Payments: DOGE’s actions within the Treasury Department raised concerns that payments for critical programs like Social Security and Medicare were at risk of being delayed or rerouted due to unauthorized changes made to the Treasury’s payment systems.
- Government Oversight and Accountability: DOGE agents, including Tom Krause and Marko Elez, had unrestricted access to Treasury’s systems, making extensive changes to the codebase with limited oversight. This raised alarms regarding transparency, fraud, and the misuse of government funds.
- Marko Elez Resignation: After a Wall Street Journal report revealed Elez’s racist and controversial social media posts advocating for eugenics, he resigned from DOGE, further calling into question the integrity and character of the group infiltrating government agencies.
We demand Congress immediately investigate these unlawful actions and ensure that Americans' private, personal information has not been compromised and that vital federal systems continue to operate without disruption.
Take action now by contacting Congress to demand an investigation.
